ALLO Communications has secured $650 million in sustainable financing, attributed in part to its investment in the Calix broadband platform.

This sustainable finance approach considers crucial environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors, and with the newfound funding, ALLO is poised to expand its green broadband network, extending service to subscribers across Nebraska, Colorado, and Arizona.

ALLO’s Environmental Leadership with Calix Broadband Platform

ALLO Communications has showcased environmental strategies by leveraging the Calix broadband platform, achieving reductions in power consumption and carbon footprint. By consolidating systems in its access network, it achieved a 73% reduction in broadband network power usage, optimizing data center and office space.

The usage of other Calix platforms allowed ALLO to provide subscribers with stable Wi-Fi, cutting power consumption by 50% and eliminating the need for energy-consuming hardware like mesh units. Using Calix Cloud, another system from the company's platform, ALLO reduced costly and environmentally unfriendly truck rolls by 40% by troubleshooting network issues remotely, Calix said.

ALLO’s SmartTown initiative, which is a community-wide WiFi offering, also eliminated the need for fixed wireless community networks and new 5G towers, bridging the digital divide sustainably for students and community members. This particular initiative aims to reduce additional capital, power consumption, and carbon footprints.

ALLO’s Sustainability Financing Framework

In May 2023, ALLO unveiled its sustainability financing framework, based on the public guidelines known as The Principles, established by the International Capital Market Association. The Framework demonstrated how ALLO's broadband expansion on the Calix platform meets essential criteria, including energy efficiency, renewable energy adoption, and accessibility to underserved customers. ALLO's commitment to ubiquitous fiber service, support for nonprofits, and energy efficiency earned it a sustainability quality score of "very good."

ALLO and Calix’s Partnership

Brad Moline, ALLO's president and CEO said the partnership with Calix has enabled the company to stand out from its competitors by providing quality l managed services and transforming the communities the company serves. By combining the sustainability benefits of the Calix broadband platform with ALLO's fiber investment, support for nonprofits, and core business values, the company secured sustainable financing, fueling the growth and endorsing its ESG strategy.
