Albuquerque has been designated as the tenth 2030 District in the United States. The Albuquerque 2030 District will be a high-performance building community that aims to reduce energy and water consumption in buildings as well as reduce emissions from transportation with goals leading up to the year 2030.
The 2030 District is a voluntary, private-sector led program.
Albuquerque joins nine other cities that have the designation — Seattle, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, Denver, San Francisco, Dallas, Toronto and Stamford.
Since Albuquerque was named as an “emerging” 2030 District in 2014, several local organizations have signed on, including the University of New Mexico, Central New Mexico Community College, Hotel Parq Central, Hotel Andaluz, Presbyterian Hospital and Plaza Compana, to name a few.
