ABM Trains Workers in Electrical Safety

Posted

ABM Energy ManageABM Franchising Group is offering an onsite safety training program to educate facility workers about safe practices and knowledge of electrical maintenance and power quality.

The Empower Training Services will cover topics that include: definition of an arc flash, hazards associated with an arc flash, the difference between qualified and unqualified personnel, boundaries and limits of approach, and how to select the proper personal protection equipment for a particular task.

According to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), each year 4,700 injuries are reported in the United States as a result of working on or around electricity. Therefore, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) recommends that anyone working on or around energized equipment needs training on electrical safe work practices. Because the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) uses the NFPA 70E as a national consensus standard for citations, failure to comply may result in costly citations, injuries and/or death.

Empower Training Services’ safety training courses are in line with the standards developed by the NFPA as well as OSHA, and the program offers a variety of courses and seminars to suit all NFPA 70E training needs. Participants may be qualified to earn Continuing Education Units for participation in one of the onsite classes.
