The said that a study found that about 90 percent of facilities that installed new lights used LEDs in 2015. The piece cites Ephesus’ figures that arenas that switched to LEDs save about 75 percent to 85 in overall energy costs. The piece cited War Memorial Arena in Syracuse, NY, as an example. It reduced power from 263,000 kilowatts to about 32,000 kilowatts, which is an 87 percent reduction. It made the switch in 2012.
The Bridgestone Arena in Nashville – home of the Predators of the National Hockey League – now is using LEDs. It will host the league’s all-star game and festivities next month.
