3E Company has announced the immediate availability of MSDgen 6.55, the latest version of its safety data sheet (SDS) authoring system.
The new release includes enhancements aimed at simplifying global hazard communication initiatives, including expanded regulatory information for Indonesia’s and the Philippines’ adaptations of the United Nations’ Globally Harmonized System for the Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) and the European Union's Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) regulation.
MSDgen 6.55 fully aligns with the EU’s REACH Annex II requirements, which necessitate a new SDS format starting June 1. The new format reflects classification, labeling, and packaging (CLP) only, eliminating the dangerous substances directive (DSD)/dangerous products directive (DPD) details present in the hybrid version.
Working closely with regional specialists, 3E Company has extended MSDgen to support the new Indonesia and Philippine GHS regulations. The latest version supports those authorities, as well as Russia’s Interstate Council for Standardization, Metrology and Certification of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), which issued five new “GOST” (state) standards for classification and labeling of chemicals based on the fourth revised edition of the UN’s GHS, effective August 1, 2014.
In addition to the new regulatory updates, MSDgen 6.55 offers a number of new product features, including formulation range processing for GHS health and environment classifications that improves how ingredient ranges are handled. In cases where a proportion range is indicated, MSDgen now pulls the highest concentration of each ingredient instead of using the mean to determine the GHS health and environmental hazard effects.
