The U.S. Department of Energy has chosen 33 small businesses for participation in an energy efficiency pilot program, according to Utility Dive.
The story says that the businesses will be able to work directly with DOE National labs and get part of $6.7 million in funding. The steps are part of round one of the new Small Business Vouchers program, according to the story, which used reporting from the Associated Press.
The story says that the businesses are in more than 20 states and have won the right to work with scientists at nine laboratories, including Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and Sandia National Laboratories.
Last week, the DoE said that it is making as much as $25 million in funding available for research and development into energy efficient electric motors. The program will last five years.
