Oracle has launched a new environmental sustainability product, aimed at helping businesses monitor their energy use, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and other environmental related impacts, and new tools for reducing e-waste and simplifying regulatory compliance.
Oracle has expanded its Manufacturing Operations Center application with the addition of Sustainability Sensor Data Management, a new solution that helps organizations monitor their environmental performance. By enabling organizations to monitor, manage and advance environmental programs, these enhancements help to improve efficiencies, reduce costs, protect the environment and ensure regulatory compliance, says Oracle.
Oracle Manufacturing Operations Center, with Sustainability Sensor Data Management, seamlessly integrates into existing Oracle and non-Oracle process control systems, smart meters and building management systems. The offering can be implemented as a standalone solution or as part of the Oracle E-Business Suite.
The Sustainability Sensor Data Management capabilities build on the Oracle Manufacturing Operations Center, automating the process of collection of sensor-based data related to energy, water, air, gas and other factors, then aggregating and analyzing that data throughout the enterprise.
The solution also supports the collection of non-sensor based data so that a comprehensive picture can be assembled regardless of the extent of sensor automation, which helps organizations ensure regulatory compliance for both mandatory and voluntary programs.
Oracle also extended the environmental impact and sustainability reporting capabilities of Oracle Depot Repair to help businesses improve their sustainability initiatives and streamline compliance.
These extensions are part of the Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1.3 and include new business intelligence dashboards that help organizations reduce waste, reuse and recycle returned materials more effectively, improve product designs and comply with environmental laws, says Oracle.
Oracle Depot Repair now includes reporting and analytics to aggregate and parse comprehensive return and disposition data, including information collected directly from third-party logistics providers, processors and recyclers, functionality not available in other enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions, according to Oracle.
By providing a single view of all return and disposition information from multiple disparate data sources, Oracle Depot Repair enables organizations to reduce environmental impact through goal setting and progress tracking for re-use, recycling and landfill avoidance, as well as increase value recovery, minimize regulatory penalties and reduce returns.
Oracle also recently released its Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management 2.0 solution, which helps utilities manage customer energy and water consumption data gathered from smart meter deployments, and simplified environmental reporting by pre-integrating GHG accounting software from Ndevr with Oracle’s E-Business Suite and Oracle’s JD Edwards EnterpriseOne financial applications.
