Utilities under the Mass Save Program are offering Northeast businesses rebates for the installation of Lighting Science Group's LED lighting products consisting of the DEFINITY LED bulbs, PROLIFIC Series streetlights and Shoebox fixtures, which meet LM-79 performance testing.
The incentives are available for retrofit, new construction and custom applications through Cape Light Compact, National Grid, NSTAR, Unitil, and Western Massachusetts Electric Company and cover all of Massachusetts and parts of New Hampshire, Connecticut, New York, and Rhode Island.
Lighting Science Group says its LED bulbs and fixtures can save businesses thousands of dollars in maintenance, replacement and energy cost. In addition, with the rebates, installation will be at little or no cost.
"Commercial and industrial customers in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, New York, and Rhode Island now have the freedom to switch to an environmentally friendly and energy efficient lighting solution without sacrificing light quality and at little to no cost," says Zach Gibler, chief executive officer of Lighting Science Group.

The DEFINITY LED line includes A19, PAR38, PAR30, PAR20, MR16, and G25 bulb types that are all dimmable and will last nearly 20 years. These LED bulbs contain no mercury, are completely recyclable, are instant on, and are said to offer outstanding light quality.
Compared with traditional HID street lights, the PROLIFIC series street lights are at least 50 percent more efficient, provide a more uniform light distribution and increased light levels, and will save customers thousands of dollars in energy and maintenance cost over the life of the fixtures, according to the company.
In addition, the product line eliminates costly re-lamping and re-ballasting of HID street lights, and direct line wiring is used in place of starters and ballasts to further reduce traditional maintenance issues.
The ShoeBox line of area light fixtures offer glare free, low maintenance light for general illumination needs. The low footprint aluminum fixture is easy to install, since no special ballast or voltage source is required, says the company.
The Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC) California recently announced that it is saving nearly $60,000 annually on the base's energy bill thanks to two lighting retrofit projects using Lighting Science Group's LED lighting products.
