ORC (organic Rankine cycle)

In thermal engineering, the Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) is a specialized form of the Rankine cycle. It employs an organic fluid with a higher molecular weight instead of water, allowing the fluid to vaporize at lower temperatures. This characteristic enables the ORC to harness heat from lower-temperature sources such as biomass combustion, industrial waste heat, geothermal sources, and solar ponds. The cycle converts this low-temperature heat into mechanical work, which can then be transformed into electricity.
