Eaton launched the 9PXM uninterruptible power system (UPS), a scalable, modular backup power solution designed for a wide range of data center, industrial, and commercial applications.
The new system has plug-and-play power and user-replaceable battery modules, giving data center operators and IT managers a solution for reliable backup power that can be scaled to meet their needs, the company says.
“From edge data centers and colocation facilities to commercial and industrial facilities, IT managers need versatile backup power that meets their businesses’ unique requirements,” said Graciano Beyhaut, senior product line manager at Eaton. “We’ve engineered the 9PXM UPS with a modular and versatile design that allows these users to start small and expand as their business needs grow, all while maintaining a compact footprint.”
Through 4 kVA plug-and-play power modules, the 9PXM delivers an expandable level of N+X redundancy, according to Eaton. In addition, the 9PXM fits eight or 12-slot tower enclosures that can be converted into 14U and 21U rack-mount solutions.
Features of the new uninterruptible power system include smart extended battery module technology that senses the need for battery replacement, hot-swappable power and battery modules, a compact footprint for tight spaces, and universal slots for extended runtime in a single chassis.
The 9PXM UPS is also compatible with 4-post or high-density racks, power distribution units, and network gear. Software integration provides advanced features. For example, Eaton’s Intelligent Power Manager software will have the 9PXM UPS trigger automatic remediation policies such as live migration of virtual machines in response to unplanned power events for disaster avoidance.
“With a 94% efficiency rating at full load, Eaton’s 9PXM UPS delivers reliable backup power with a small carbon footprint,” the power management products company says.
