Product Announcement: ‘Superior Walls’ Contribute to Award-Winning Structures

by | Mar 5, 2018

Pennsylvania-based Bridlewood Builders uses precast concrete Superior Walls from Advanced Concrete Systems in its structures because they are easy to use and create homes that consume energy more efficiently – a selling point that appeals to customers, the company says. The builder says it uses Xi Plus walls – with an R-21 rating – in basements, with SIP walls (R-23 rating) used for the upper levels.

For a recent award-winning home in Elkton, Maryland, the builder created a 2,800-square-foot walk-out basement which incorporated a climate-controlled wine cellar using Xi Plus walls for two sides. It has an office, guest bedroom, bathroom, sauna and a living room/game room. All the exterior walls are Superior Walls; there are no framed exterior walls. The highly energy-efficient home incorporates a 3.3 ton geo-thermal heat pump that works to keep the almost 6,000-square-foot home comfortable, Bridlewood Builders says.

The home won the 2017 Peak Achievement Award from the York (PA) Builders Association for being the Best Green Home.

Advanced Concrete Systems’ precast insulated concrete wall panels are dimensionally accurate and install quickly to provide a strong, energy efficient foundation for residential and commercial projects, the company says. The Xi product forms a concrete cavity wall panel with concrete studs reinforced with rebar and polypropylene fibers providing additional structural strength. The insulated precast concrete wall systems are custom manufactured to each building’s specifications.
