uarkaThe University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) and design-build energy performance contractor Performance Services have entered a $19.3 million energy performance contract (EPC) through the Arkansas Energy Performance Contracting Program.

The project will install LEDs and upgrade water, building envelope, HVAC and controls across the campus, according to the press release. Other elements of the overall project are optimization and re-engineering of the chilled water loop and installation of a 321 kWh solar array. The array, according to the press release, will be the largest in a public institution in the state.

The program will reduce energy consumption by 32 percent. If that level of cuts is achieved, the school will be the first Arkansas state university meet the 30 percent energy reduction mandate required in Act 1494.

The project initially was announced last month, along with work at the school’s Little Rock campus.
