Taylor Farms Using Solar in Texas

Taylor Farms is using a 1.1 MW roof-mounted solar array at its prepared fresh foods facility in Dallas. The array spans almost four acres and features 3,520 panels.  The company said in a press release that it is among the largest commercial solar installations in Texas. It is the company’s first large scale energy project outside of California. The energy offset is about 17 percent of the energy used by the plant.

Dallas-based ONCOR and MP2 are parties to the project. Construction began in mid-September and finished earlier this month. The Dallas facility employs 1,100 people and is the eight major project in the United States in which Taylor Farms uses that includes renewable and energy efficient strategies.

Ameresco said this week that it will construct a 2.4 MW solar facility in the town of Sturbridge, MA, according to the company.
