Woodward Inc., a maker of controls for the aerospace and industrial industries, received a $329,500 rebate check from Fort Collins’ (CO) Utilities’ Integrated Design Assistance Program (IDAP) this week.

The story at the Coloradoan said that the award was due to the company’s incorporation of energy efficiency into the construction of its Lincoln Avenue campus. The story says that the design of the turbomachinery Systems facility used energy efficiency standards that exceed those in the city code.

IDAP has rebated program participants almost $1.3 million since 1996. Those recipients have reduced their energy costs by about $46,000 annually as well, the story says.

Fort Collins is active in energy efficiency efforts. Recently, it joined The City Energy Project, which is a joint project of the Natural Resources Defense Council and the Institute for Market Transformation.

Julie Hughes, IMT’s Director of Building Performance Policy and Co-Director of the City Energy Project, told Energy Manager Today that that Fort Collins has especially ambitious sustainability goals. The community could save as much as $11 million annually by 2030. Energy Manager Today looked at The City Energy Project, with a focus on Fort Collins’ participation, earlier this month.
