by | Oct 10, 2016

cree_xqeCree has introduced the XG-E an XP-E High Efficiency Photo Red LEDs for horticultural uses. The LEDs deliver as much as 21 percent higher output than previous generations of the  products. The XG-E and XP-E deliver Photosynthetic Photon Flux (PPF) levels up to 5.39 ?mol/sec at 85 C, the press release says.

The footprint of the lamps is 1.6 mm by 1.6 mm. The company says that the lamps are the first to break the 1 W radiant flux barrier at 85 C. The lamps use Cree’s ceramic technology to deliver R90 lifetimes over 100,000 hours, even at a temperature of 105C.

Horticultural lighting is a very specialized subcategory. Energy managers in this area generally have a set of requirements that differ significantly from those of general lighting.
