GE Power will provide the New York State Power Authority (NYPA) with software that will monitor, analyze and enhance its operating capabilities across its 16 generating facilities and the electricity transmission network, according to GE.
The move is part of a five-year initiative by the NYPA. The goal is to improve efficiency, reliability and cost-effectiveness, according to the press release. The targets are hydropower plants and low-emitting natural gas plants. Together, these facilities provide 15 percent to 20 percent of the state’s daily electricity output.
The press release says that GE will provide its Asset Performance Management (APM) software for the project. APM software leverages data analytics to monitor power generation and transmission equipment.
