A&B Properties and Carbon Lighthouse are running a two-month pilot to identify energy efficiency initiatives for A&B’s commercial assets in Hawaii.
A&B – which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Alexander & Brown – and Carbon Lighthouse launched the study at the Pearl Highlands Center and the Kaka`ako Commerce Center on Oahu and the Kahului Office Building on Maui. The locations, the press release says, were identified as having the highest energy demands in A&B’s commercial properties in the state.
Carbon Lighthouse will use its CLUES energy optimization technology in the project. Hundreds of sensors will be distributed across the properties to collect data on airflow, water use, lighting and cooling.
Last month, the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission (PUC) dismissed (without prejudice) a joint application by Hawaiian Electric (HECO) and NextEra Energy on the $4.3 billion HECO sale. The PUC said it would be unlikely to offer adequate benefits to ratepayers.
