The Asia Nikkei reports that ZTE and Tencent Holdings have developed an environmentally-friendly data center.
The Tencent West Lab is a mobile and containerized data center that uses a relatively low level of energy to operate, the story says. Capacity is added in a block-by-block fashion. Such expansions can be accomplished in about two weeks. Indirect evaporative free cooling technology is used and power is generated by photovoltaics and taken from the grid, the release says.
ZTE essentially is a mobile equipment maker. It has, however, expanded into the data center business gradually, the story says.
Modular data centers are gaining in popularity because of their energy efficiency attributes, experts say.
