commercial-building-energy-manageThe American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), the International Code Council (ICC), the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) are proposing changes to high performance building standards.

ASHRAE says that the organizations are offering nine changes to Standard 189.1, which is the “Standard for the Design of High Performance Green Buildings.” The changes opened for public review last week. A key change is addenda o, which ASHRAE says “proposes revisions to the existing purpose and scope of the standard to clarify its intended purposes and application, and to better reflect the revisions to the standard that are being considered by the committee.”

ASHRAE also is working through changes to the standard that focuses on energy efficiency upgrades to historical buildings.
