AppleApple and other technology providers have long tried to reduce their pollution by incorporating more green energy into their mix. But the computer maker’s latest efforts center on the sale of its “apps” that have an environmental theme.

It’s all geared to Earth Day coming on April 22. And the Washington Post is reporting that for 10 days, Apple will feature popular applications that have an environmental theme. All money spent buying those applications, it says, will go toward supporting the World Wildlife Fund.

The apps? Don’t worry if you don’t know them. Apparently, millions do: Angry Birds, The Game and SimCity BuildIt. Angry Birds, for instance, has been downloaded 85 million times.
