China Expands Solar Capacity

In four years, the site says, China will generate 15 GW to 20 GW of solar power, according to Nur Bekri, who leads the National Energy Administration. The nation generate one quarter of the solar additions with 15.1 GW of installations last year, the NEA said. At the end of last year, China’s solar capacity was 43.2 GW. This was the high level in the world. Germany was second, the story said.

China, the biggest producer of carbon emissions, has increased its solar capacity 13-fold since 2011.

In November, Channel NewsAsia reported that Singapore’s Public Utilities Board (PUB) said that it would conduct a nine-month, ten-reservoir study on the use of floating solar panels.
