Truman State University in Kirksville, MO, is in the middle of a $10.5 million, 16-month energy efficiency upgrade that will save the school $1 million annually, according to the Kirksville Daily Express.
The story says that the payback time is 10 years for the project. The school has contracted with Energy Solutions Professionals. The only larger project the firm has undertaken is at the University of Kansas. The story says that the savings could power 1,310 homes for one year and is the equivalent of 1 million gallons of gasoline. The school has been awarded more than $300,000 from Ameren Missouri as part of its Business Energy Efficiency Program.
Last month, The Missouri Public Service Commission approved a request by Ameren Missouri to decrease the Energy Efficiency Investment Charge (EEIC) that is a separate line item on the utility’s 1.1 million electric customers in the state.
