Las Vegas Wins Right to Use More Renewables

Las VegasThe Nevada Public Utilities Commission will allow Las Vegas to increase its use of renewable energy.

The Associated Press report, which was posted by KTVN, said that the commission has approved the partnership between the city and NV Energy. The deal will enable the city to use renewables for a number of purposes. The story points to powering of streetlights, city parks and public buildings as uses of renewable energy under the deal.

The agreement between the city and NV Energy was announced in November, 2015. The energy will be provided by a facility that is being created in Boulder City.

Last autumn, IKEA said it will put the largest single use solar system atop a commercial building. The store is in Las Vegas.
