Hubbell Outdoor Lighting has introduced the ASL LED luminaire. The LED, which is aimed at area, site or roadway use, replaces high-intensity discharge (HID) luminaires of up to 400 watts.
The company says that the ASL is 60 percent more efficient than legacy HIDs and is available in 8- , 16- or 24-LED configurations. High performance lenses producet photometric performances of 3,000 K, 4,000 K or 5,000 K CCT. IES Type II, III, IV and V lens distributions are field exchangeable and rotatable to 90 degree increments. The ASL offers tool-less entry to the wiring/driver compartment and other features and options.
LED projects sometimes hit speedbumps. LED Inside reports that the Mississauga – the sixth largest city in Canada – miscalculated the funds necessary for an LED replacement project. Initially, $28 million (US $20.98 million) was budgeted. That was found to be insufficient to cover brighter LEDs in one-third of the areas, so $5.25 million in additional funding was granted, the story says.
