Walmart Saving Money While Driving Efficiency

A key suggestion by the piece is that these efforts cut costs by hundreds of millions of dollars annually in addition to be socially responsible. That money saved can lead to lower prices for consumers or be reinvested in the company.

 

Walmart – the world’s largest company, according to the story – aims to use 7 billion kWh of renewable energy by 2020. About 65 percent of its suppliers – almost 1,300 companies – use its Sustainability Index. By the end of this year, the company will have eliminated 20 million metric tons of greenhouse emissions from its supply chain, the story says.

 

RetailDive says that Walmart has committed to buying 58 percent of the energy produced by Pattern Energy Group’s 200 MW Logan’s Gap Wind facility that is being built in suburban Dallas.
