Powerit Solutions and UniEnergy Technologies (UET) have agreed to provide equipment to Mission Produce, an importer, processor and exporter of avocados.
Mission Produce has signed a letter of intent to deploy a UET Uni.System vanadium redox flow battery. The device will be installed at its facility in Oxnard, CA, by the end of the year, according to UET. The manufacturer says that the system is highly integrated and will lower power costs for Mission Produce. It also will give them energy assurance. Other projects between the three companies are anticipated.
Powerit will contribute its Spara Hub microgrid platform to the collaboration. Spara Hub enables coordinates and optimizes all of a company’s energy assets.
Battery power is making substantial progress and attracting deep-pocketed supporters. Yesterday, Energy Manager Today reported on research from Frost & Sullivan that found that the utility-scale, grid-connected market will grow significantly over the next decade. Another study– The Green Transition’s update — found that $17.4 billion has been invested in research and development for battery storage from 2007 to last year.
