The Telegram reports that The Sizer School, a North Central Charter Essential School in Fitchburg, MA, has installed sensor technology that detects if a room is occupied and adjusts the temperature accordingly. The sensors also turn lights on and off.
School administrators told The Telegram that it can save more than 47,000 kilowatt hours in power annually with the technology. The cost was $26,173. The school received a rebate of $19,633 from vendor Unitil. That rebate – and a separate rebates totaling $82,968 for boilers and kitchen equipment – were awarded by the Mass Save program.
