Schneider Electric Program Cuts 13% of Energy Consumption

by | Dec 18, 2014

Schneider-Electric-logoSchneider Electric reduced core energy consumption at 300 of its facilities by 13 percent and carbon emissions from transportation by more than 16 percent through a company-wide program launched in 2011.

The reductions, which the company reached at the end of the third quarter of 2014, surpassed the program’s targets.

The Energy Action Program was created by the electrical equipment and energy management company to develop new energy saving techniques at global facilities. Under the program, Schneider increased its energy efficiency and grew revenue from its Green Premium products to more than 70 percent of its total business.

Schneider was honored at the 2014 Platts Global Energy Awards held in December for its energy savings program.

In November, Schneider Electric and Awesense signed an agreement to commercialize complementary offers to reduce network losses in electricity distribution grids. Awesense develops products and software to identify losses from metering errors to electricity theft.

Under the agreement, Schneider Electric will integrate and sell Awesense’s True Grid Intelligence (TGI) cloud software and line sensors, as well as associated engineering and technical services. The solution identifies losses on all grid topologies with overhead or underground conductors.
