Pepsi Bottling Ventures, the largest privately held Pepsi bottler in North America, has selected Recleim to provide recycling services, disposing of PBV’s retired cold drink vending machines, fountain units, glass door merchandisers, and other parts and components.
Recleim’s exclusively licensed recycling technology enables it to recover 95 percent of PBV equipment by weight, the company says.
PBV says it chose Recleim because it’s committed to ensuring its machines are recycled “according to the highest standards,” and Recleim allows it to maximize the amount of materials recovered.
Under the agreement, Recleim will transport retired equipment from PBV’s central distribution center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, to its flagship recycling facility in Graniteville, South Carolina, for processing. Recleim will also provide PBV with a certificate of destruction, a traceable document that guarantees all goods received by Recleim are recycled in a way that meets or exceeds federal, state and local requirements.
Recleim says its recycling process ensures that emissions of ozone-depleting substances are minimized.
Last month PepsiCo set a goal that by 2020 all of its future point-of-sale equipment (coolers, vending machines and fountain dispensers) purchased in the US will be hydroflourocarbon-free.
