British Gas, the United Kingdom’s largest utility, hired Pulse Energy to conduct behavioral-based energy efficiency programs for the utility’s commercial customers.
Opower has had success in the residential arena by providing utility customers with information on how their energy usage compares to their neighbors. Opower recently filed its Initial Public Offering.
Now, Canadian-based Pulse Energy will provide energy efficiency reports to British Gas’ 900,000 commercial customers in a three-year, multi-million-dollar contract. Pulse Energy will allow British Gas customers to see in real-time where they are using the most energy and how they can increase their efficiency. The Pulse Platform for utilities’ commercial businesses includes multiple communications channels that drive behavior change. “We motivate customers to take action with credible peer comparisons and personalized, actionable tips to improve efficiency,” according to Pulse Energy’s website.
