Oklahoma has become the second state to allow utilities to tack surcharges onto the bills of customers with rooftop solar panels or small wind turbines. Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin signed Senate Bill 1456, which will require the Oklahoma Corporation Commission to establish a separate customer class for new distributed generation customers.
Fallin also issued an executive order directing its implementation, reports The Oklahoman. Fallin’s executive order said, “A proper and required examination of these and other rate reforms will ensure that Oklahoma appropriately implements the Oklahoma First Energy Plan while protecting future distributed generation customers.”
The surcharges won’t go into effect until the end of 2015.
