Kellogg Arena Spends $2.7M for Energy Efficiency

Energy Manage Battle CreekThe Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek, Mich., signed a $2.7 million energy savings performance contract (ESPC) with Ameresco. Some of the upgrades and energy conservation measures underway include: replacing the roof, bleacher mechanism replacement, LED exterior lighting retrofit, instituting water conservation measures, enhancing building envelop and replacing windows. The projected is expected to be complete this fall.

Ameresco recently completed the City of Battle Creek’s energy savings project at Full Blast Recreation Department.

In other Ameresco news, the company worked with Avalon Energy Services to complete a second natural gas procurement for the District of Columbia Department of General Services (DC DGS). Under its initial supply contract, DC DGS experienced an estimated 40 percent reduction in the price it pays for natural gas supply. This second round allowed the DC DGS to avoid the extreme volatility in natural gas prices that occurred during this winter’s heating season. The Department of General Services manages over 25 million square feet of building space in the District of Columbia.
