DuPont Fabros Technology’s Ashburn Corporate Campus (ACC) now uses reclaimed water for the four data centers with evaporative cooling plants.
Conversion of the ACC evaporative cooling plants to reclaimed water has lowered its environmental impact in two ways. First, the company has significantly reduced its consumption of potable water, and the use of reclaimed water reduces the amount of treated effluent water the local water authority would otherwise discharge into local waterways.
These four data centers – ACC3, ACC4, ACC5, and ACC6 – comprise more than 1.1 million gross square feet and 112 MW of critical power available for use by DFT’s customers. DFT’s ACC7 data center facility is currently under construction and represents an additional 446,000 gross square feet and totaling 41.6 MW of critical power when fully developed. It also will utilize reclaimed water for its evaporative cooling plant.
DFT has obtained LEED certification at each of its facilities developed and delivered since 2009, and we design and construct our facilities with industry-leading Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE); reducing the amount of power necessary to operate the facility.
