Perhaps not surprisingly, the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) sees shale gas as a potential boon to business and supports two bills in the US House of Representatives regarding shale gas.
NAM’s Senior Vice President of Policy and Government Relations Aric Newhouse issued this statement in support of HR 1900, the Natural Gas Permitting Reform Act:
“Manufacturers are excited by the prospect of vast domestic natural gas supplies, a critical component of our ‘all-of-the-above’ energy policy. The shale gas boom is contributing to a manufacturing resurgence in the United States. To capitalize on the promise of natural gas, though, manufacturers need the right infrastructure in place to ensure it can be delivered quickly, efficiently and safely from the well to the consumer. HR 1900 would help streamline the permitting process for natural gas pipeline projects, strengthening our energy infrastructure and global competitiveness.”
NAM also supports HR 2728, the Protecting States’ Rights to Promote American Energy Security Act, and Newhouse issued this statement:
“HR 2728 is a critical step in ensuring the federal government does not destroy the promise of the shale revolution by imposing a one-size-fits-all regulatory scheme on states across the country.”
