Telecommunications giant Ericsson is planning to invest $1.1 billion in the coming five years to build three global ICT Centers, using modular design with a focus on energy efficiency. Two centers will be located in Sweden, and one will be located in Quebec, Canada.
The three information communications technology (ICT) centers combined will be up to 120,000 square meters, housing the company’s complete portfolio, enabling research and development for next generation technology and cloud-based services.
The centers will be built in a modular and scalable way, securing an efficient use of resources and space adaptable to the business needs. Ericsson estimates that the combination of architecture, design and locations will reduce energy consumption up to 40 percent.
The company will begin construction on the two ICT Centers in Sweden from the end of 2013 and from the end of 2014 respectively, and on the Canadian ICT Center from early 2015.
