Standards and Compliance: 18 Endesa Buildings Certified, World’s First IEC 62368-1 for Samsung

Endesa has earned AENOR certification for its energy efficiency system (ISO 50001) and environmental management system (ISO 14001) at 18 of its offices in Spain. Six of these offices have also been granted certification for internal air quality (UNE 171330-3). The 18 buildings have floor space of more than 115,000 square meters, the Spanish utility said.

UL has issued the world’s first IEC 62368-1 certificate – the latest safety standard for audio/video, information and communication technology equipment – to Samsung Electronics for its new A3 Mono Multifunction printer (model: K2200ND). In working with UL to meet the IEC 62368-1 standard, Samsung indentified safety hazards early in the product development phase, shortening products’ time to market, UL said.

ETS, a wholly owned subsidiary of Neptune-Benson, is certified as compliant to NSF/ANSI Standard 61 Drinking Water System Components – Health Effects for their ultraviolet drinking water systems. The standard sets the minimum health effects requirements for materials, components, products or systems that contain drinking water treatment chemicals or both. For example, the standard ensures that UV light does not degrade components used within the products, ETS said.

Wausau Window and Wall Systems’ security curtainwall has helped two US-Canadian border crossing meet US Customs and Border Protection’s security requirements – and certify to LEED Gold standard. The two border crossing are the Port of Entry in Van Buren, Maine, and the Port of Entry facility in Warroad, Minn. In addition to the curtainwall system’s high thermal performance, other energy-efficient building features include geothermal heating and cooling, biodiesel boilers, and solar hot water, the company said.

The NYLO Dallas South Side hotel, a renovated 102-year old factory building, has achieved LEED Gold certification. It is the first historic hotel in Dallas to receive the rating, and one of 69 LEED Gold certified hotels in the nation. Features of the hotel include the use of a 3,900-gallon cistern to collect rainwater for landscaping and low-E film added to existing windows, the company said.

The Harley & Lela Franco Maritime Center on Seattle’s Harbor Island has earned LEED Gold certification. The 45,000 square-foot, four-story office includes an open daylight atrium, seven shared conference spaces, and a 2,000 square foot training space. The architect on the project was Mithun, Inc. and the general contractor was Schuchart Corporation, Seattle Curbed writes.

Laurentide Hall at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater has met the standard for LEED-New Construction certification. The building is noted for an energy performance estimated to be 24 percent lower than the ASHRAE 90.1 code baseline. The project also diverted 83 percent of the building’s construction waste and salvaged more than 86 percent of a pre-existing structural frame and shell, the university said.
