ECC Renewables is one of five contractors selected to compete for projects to develop, construct, finance, own, and operate geothermal energy projects on Department of Defense installations located throughout the US under long-term (20+ year) power purchase agreements using private sector financing.
This award marks the first of four renewable and alternative energy technologies being awarded this year under a $7 billion joint total acquisition value contract with the US Army Corps of Engineers. Awards for solar, wind, and biomass technologies will be awarded through the end of 2013.
In other Army news, Boro Construction has awarded Hannah Solar Government Services a contract valued at $584,429 for the construction of a 207 kW ballasted roof mounted solar PV system for the new Aviation Support Facility of the New Jersey Army National Guard at Joint Base McGuire, Dix, Lakehurst, NJ. The project will generate more than 228,839 kWh annually.
The Army has a goal of obtaining 25 percent of its base energy requirements from renewable sources by 2025.
