Environmental & Energy Executive Moves: Deutsche Bank, Vestas, Sustainability Coalition, FirstEnergy, C3, Ecotality

Deutsche Bank: The company has named Thorsten Strauss as its global head of communications and CSR, effective June 1. Strauss is Bertelsmann AG’s former head of corporate communications. Michael Golden, currently deputy head of group press, will serve as deputy global head of communications & CSR.

The Sustainability Consortium: The association announced that executive director Bonnie Nixon is stepping down, only ten months after taking up her post, GreenBiz reported. Nixon started the job in April 2011.

Fishermen’s Energy: The wind power developer has appointed Chris Wissemann as CEO. Wissemann founded Deepwater Wind and more recently led Great Lakes Wind Energy.

Vestas Wind Systems: Henrik Noerremark quit less than one month into his dual CFO-COO role at the world’s largest turbine maker after poor financial results, Bloomberg reports. The company also said that chairman Bent Erik Carlsen, deputy chairman Torsten Erik Rasmussen and board member Freddy Frandsen won’t stand for re-election. The board nominated three executives to fill the gap, North American Windpower reports. They are Bert Nordberg, president and CEO of Sony Ericsson; Lars Olof Josefsson, former president of Sandvik Mining and Construction; and Eija Pitkanen, vice president and head of corporate responsibility at Telia Sonera.

C3: The provider of energy and emissions management software has added three senior vice presidents: Brian Stone, SVP of product marketing, Richard Campione, SVP of engineering, and Keith Costello, SVP of global services. Stone was previously VP of sales and marketing at Nanosolar. Campione was executive VP and general manager at SAP. Costello was executive VP and general manager of Business Analytics at SAP. Meanwhile, C3 has named Pat House as chief marketing officer. She was its SVP of strategy. House will remain vice chairman and leader of the company’s Sustainability Committee.

Boulder Wind Power: The maker of generators for utility-scale wind turbines has announced that Andris Cukurs will be its new CEO and will join the company’s board of directors. Cukurs was previously CEO of Suzlon and NEG Micon. Sandy Butterfield, co-founder and former CEO of Boulder Wind Power, has assumed the role of chief technology officer and remains a board member.

Enerkem: The biofuel producer announced that Carl Rush, senior vice president of organic growth for Waste Management, has joined its board of directors.

US SIF: Also called the Forum for Sustainable and Responsible Investment, the membership association announced that its newest director is Michelle Clayman, managing partner and chief investment officer of New Amsterdam Partners.

Advanced Energy Economy: The association named three new board members: Jim Rogers, chairman, President and CEO of Duke Energy; Mike Ahearn, chairman of First Solar; and Tom Carnahan, founder and former CEO and chairman of Wind Capital Group.

EDF EN Canada Inc.: The renewable energy developer promoted Benoit Rigal to VP, engineering and construction. Rigal was previously EDF Energies Nouvelles’ deputy head of construction, and later technical director for EDF EN Canada.

Duo-Gard Industries: The maker of translucent daylighting system and architectural illumination has appointed Tim Metcalfe as director of sustainable technologies. He joins following five years with Kalwall, a manufacturer of translucent fiber-reinforced systems, where he led the daylight modeling program.

BuildingIQ: The energy management software company has added Gregory Kats to its board of directors. He is president of Capital E and served for five years as director of financing for energy efficiency and renewable energy at the U.S. Department of Energy.

GL Renewables Certification: The certifier, part of GL Garrad Hassan, appointed Rüdiger Urhahn as VP of project management & sales. He has spent the past 20 years overseeing international projects in a variety of senior management roles.

BG Group: The natural gas company has announced the appointment of Vivienne Cox as a non-executive director. Cox is the former executive VP of gas, power and renewables and former chief executive of BP Alternative Energy.

International Institute for Sustainable Laboratories: The institute named Aircuity founder and chairman Gordon Sharp as its executive vice president, after more than five years as a board member.

LUMEnergi: The lighting energy management company appointed Barry Weinbaum as president and CEO. He most recently served as VP of strategic marketing at lighting company Acuity Brands. LUMEnergi also appointed William Astary as senior vice president of sales, Susie Minton as vice president of marketing, and Andrew Savadelis as CFO.

Intelligent Energy: The clean power systems company appointed John Maguire as CFO, while former CFO Rian Urding becomes CEO of subsidiary IE Low Emission Vans Limited. Maguire joins from mobile operator Etisalat Nigeria.

Broadway Renewable Strategies: The electrical construction announced that Carter Wall will be joining to head up a new business unit, Performance Solar. Wall was Executive Director of the Massachusetts Renewable Energy Trust (now part of the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center).

Ecotality: The electric vehicle infrastructure company has appointed Paul Gordon as its chief technology officer. Mr. Gordon joins from Trilliant Networks, where he was VP of engineering.

FirstEnergy: The utility has named Carl Bridenbaugh, formerly director of transmission planning and support, as vice president of transmission.
