App for iPhone Extends B2B Marketing Reach into Water Industry

iphoneA new iPhone application extends the notion of business-to-business marketing via mobile phones into the realm of water usage and plumbing.

The Save H20 water savings calculator is designed to help facilities managers, architects, engineers and other professionals to estimate existing water usage and calculate savings to be gained by switching to water-efficient plumbing products. Users input information such as the type and number of toilets in place, the number of people using the facility and local water rates.

The application can be used for new construction or existing facilities in commercial, hospitality and residential markets, according to Sloan Valve Co., which owns the application. A simplified Web version of the application is here.

This is just the latest in environmentally oriented applications for the iPhone.

For instance, an iPhone application from SAP and the Carbon Disclosure Project shows a visualized breakdown of a variety of corporate emissions data. It was released ahead of the Copenhagen climate talks as a means of communicating to world leaders and the public about climate change and corporate emissions.

Also, Clear Standards, which was purchased by SAP in June of 2009, last year launched the “Carbon Tracker,” a free GPS-enabled carbon footprint application for the iPhone.
