The four Green Power awards are Best Green Power Education Outreach Program for marketing work that spreads the word about the environmental benefits of green power; Best Promotional Campaign by a green power purchaser for promoting its use of green power in an innovative way; Best Marketing Campaign by a green power supplier for the originality and success in generating customers; and the Green Power Pioneer Award for cutting-edge outreach efforts, continuous achievement and dedication by an individual for helping to create the green power industry, according to CRS.
This year’s winners are: AmerenUE for the Best Green Power Education Outreach Program, PepsiCo (for SunChips) for the Best Promotional Campaign by a Green Power Purchaser, Bonneville Environmental Foundation for the Best Marketing Campaign by a Green Power Supplier, and Ed Holt for the Green Power Pioneer Award.
Also this week, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has named Intel, Kohl’s, Deutsche Bank and Mohawk Fine Papers as Green Power Partners of the Year for their adoption of renewable energy.
The EPA also recognized the following companies for their green power purchasing: Beaulieu Commercial, Bloomberg LP, EarthColor Inc., Foulger-Pratt Management Inc., The Joinery, Motorola Inc., Neenah Paper Inc., Shaklee Corporation, Steelcase USA, and Western Pennsylvania Energy Consortium. Applied Materials Inc., Butte College and Wal-Mart Stores Inc. were recognized for their renewable energy generation.
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) also awarded its Green Power Supplier Awards for advancing the development and use of green energy. This year’s Non-Utility Green Power Supplier of the Year award winners are 3Degrees and Bonneville Environmental Foundation. Central Vermont Public Service Corporation — Cow Power, Madison Gas and Electric Company, and Puget Sound Energy earned this year’s Utility Green Power Program of the Year award.
