A 20-percent reduction in plastic used to make Pepsi’s 500ml flavored non-carbonated beverage bottles has resulted in its lightest bottle yet.
The move will eliminate approximately 20 million pounds of waste a year from the environment and save the company money in the long-term.
In addition to a 20 percent reduction in the plastic resin, Pepsi has reduced the label size by 10 percent and the shrink wrap film by 5 percent.
The new bottle will be launched in one of the beverage industry’s fastest growing segments through established trademarks of Lipton Iced Tea, Tropicana juice drinks, Aquafina FlavorSplash and Aquafina Alive.
Pepsi recently said it would be publishing facts about recycling on 7.5 billion cans by the end of the year.
