Johnson Controls has signed a contract to cut energy use and emissions from the largest shopping mall in India’s largest city, Mumbai, JS Online reports. The deal is with K Raheja Corp., an Indian real estate development company.
Johnson Controls says that the deal is the first contract signed through the Clinton Climate Initiative and will be financed through the $5 billion in financing that five major investment banks pledged last year. “We were informed by the Clinton Climate Initiative, ‘Congratulations on the first written contract,’ ” said Clay Nesler, vice president of energy and sustainability with Johnson Controls.
The company has been busy preparing proposals for the Clinton initiative.
Johnson Controls recently pledged to reduce its total U.S. greenhouse gas emissions intensity per dollar of revenue by 30 percent from 2002 to 2012.
