The 125,000-square-foot 4th Avenue building will be the new home for Sony Pictures Television, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The 90,000-square-foot Culver Building will be Sony Pictures Television International’s headquarters. The project, which includes an employee commons area and parking lot, is set to be completed in summer 2009.
The buildings are being constructed according to guidelines established by the U.S. Green Building Council, including recycling 95 percent of the construction waste; installing low-flow toilets and waterless urinals; constructing an energy efficient, low-emission power plan; and using 100 percent nontoxic carpeting, paint, sealant, adhesives and wall coverings.
EI Solutions will be constructing a 235kW pilot solar electricity system as part of the expansion project. The design phase of the solar system has commenced and installation is scheduled to begin in October 2007 and will be completed in early 2008. The solar panels will be located on the rooftop of the Jimmy Stewart Building and the solar energy generated from the installation will be used to offset electricity needs at the Culver City office facilities.
